Jeff Homer
Co-President
Jeff Homer, class of 2013, is the Co-President of HIA. His responsibilities include making weekly presentations to members on a variety of finance topics, maintaining corporate relationships, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the club, and recruiting new members. He has previously interned at TransAlta, a $5B publicly traded power utility, and at Devon Canada, a subsidiary of Devon Energy, a $30B publicly traded company. He has also worked in the non-profit sector as a research intern with the Calgary Food Bank, studying trends in food bank usage relative to other socioeconomic indicators. His interests include value investing, behavioral finance, and oilsands exploration. He is an 800m runner on the Harvard track team and enjoys golf and biking. Weishen Mead
Co-President
Weishen Mead, class of 2013, is the Co-President of HIA. His responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the club, organizing the annual Wall Street trip and other recruiting events, maintaining corporate relationships, and overseeing the work of the other board members. He spent the last summer tutoring Chinese students in English, and spent the summer before studying Mandarin in Taiwan at National Taiwan University. He is interested in emerging markets in Asia, the links between economic and social development, and green technology. A middle distance runner on the Harvard track team, Weishen also enjoys tennis, classical music, opera, and reading Russian and Spanish novels. Julian Sherwin
Vice President of Membership and Outreach
Julian Sherwin, class of 2013, is the Vice President of Membership and Outreach. His responsibilities include leading HIA’s fall and spring recruitment efforts, as well as managing and expanding HIA’s external relationships. He has previously worked as a Group Manager at Cobra Group Australia on behalf of Fortune 500 clients including Citibank and American Express. Paul Farber
Vice President of Investment Education
Paul Farber, class of 2013, is the Vice President of Investment Education. He is responsible for overseeing the comp process, including recruiting new members and inviting guest speakers. Last summer he worked at Harvey & Co., a merchant bank, developing acquisition strategies for private equity firms and middle market companies, and also at Southern California Edison, an electric utility, developing a $20B auction strategy for California’s cap-and-trade greenhouse gas emissions market and designing exotic energy derivatives. His freshman summer was spent as an environmental consultant for the mayor of Santa Ana, Calif. on community garden implementation for the second largest metropolitan area in the US. His interests include the energy and health sectors. He is a coxswain on the Harvard Lightweight Men’s Crew team and plays saxophone in the Monday Night Jazz Band. Kyle Solan
Vice President of Information and Technology
Kyle Solan, class of 2014, is the Vice President of Information and Technology. His responsibilities include maintaining the HIA website, administrating the HIA blog, and managing HIA’s Internet presence. Kyle’s interests include entrepreneurship and venture capital, particularly in the tech startup industry. In the past, he has worked with small businesses as a software consultant to help develop technology-related business solutions and optimizations. Vas Giahos
Secretary
Vas Giahos, class of 2014 is the Secretary of HIA. His responsibilities include the maintenance of the email lists and general administrative duties. This past summer Vas returned to his hometown of Modesto, Calif. where he worked as an intern at 5.11 Tactical. Vas worked with the L.E.K. Consulting Firm team at 5.11 and helped build a margin analysis tool. Vas plays soccer for the Harvard Crimson, but he also enjoys playing table tennis and being involved in his Greek culture. Tyler Gildan
Treasurer
Tyler Gildan, class of 2013, is the Treasurer of HIA. He is responsible for keeping the financial records of the organization. His tasks include creating and managing the annual budget, cashing members in and out of the HIA Fund, and attracting new sponsorship money. He has previously worked as a summer analyst for Intech Investment Management, which manages over $45 billion in assets. He has also worked in the real estate consulting business for Metrostudy of South Florida. On campus, Tyler tutors students in economics and plays first base for the Harvard club baseball team. Darcy Wilson
Past President
Darcy Wilson, class of 2012, is the past President of HIA. Last summer he interned at Credit Suisse in the Global Industrials Group where his work focused on the Diversified Industrials and Aerospace & Defense sectors. He has previously interned in private wealth management at RBC Dominion Securities, equity research at Genuity Capital Markets and in business development and production control at Suncor Energy. He has been interested in finance since high school and was a delegate at the 2010 Business Today International Conference. His other interests include commodities trading, economic history and the life-insurance securitization market.
